Reports close to the Manchester United football club suggest that the Red Devils are currently working on assigning Frenkie de Jong, Vitinha, and Malcolm Ebiowei.

Following this, Jonathan Shrager has stated that the United are interested in two players in addition to the 25-year-old. Two such players he cites are Vitinha of FC Porto and Malcolm Ebiowei of Derby County.

United’s main priority this summer has been the Dutch midfielder, and sources on Friday morning claim that despite Barcelona’s better financial circumstances, he is still set to depart.

The former is another center-midfield alternative, which makes sense given the position’s lack of depth after the departures of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

Yet, despite playing in a double pivot with the more defensive Vitinha in Portugal, he does not appear to be the answer to United’s holding midfield problem.

United is now negotiating personal conditions with the Portuguese midfielder, but according to Shrager, they have not made a formal proposal.

The 22-year-old reportedly has a £34 million release clause, which TalkSPORT claimed earlier this week that United are considering activating.

According to reports elsewhere, they may have competition for his signature, with Pedro Sepulveda claiming that PSG is holding a meeting to discuss whether or not to trigger the player’s release clause.

Meanwhile, Ebiowei is a brilliant 18-year-old attacker who appeared in 16 Championship games for Wayne Rooney’s side last season.

He also scored seven goals in as many games while playing in the Under-18s Premier League, and is considered a strong prospect that United may target.

Fabrizio Romano said earlier this week that the Reds were winning the fight for the kid. United is currently pushing hard for this transaction, according to Shrager, and Ebiowei’s agents are enthusiastic about it.

It’s unclear whether this is primarily a move to boost United’s development system, or whether the attacker is a new option to enhance the first-frontline team’s depth.

Last season, the defender worked with Erik ten Hag and is a versatile player who might contribute to the team.

According to Shrager, talks between Timber’s team and United’s camp broke down over personal issues. Those discussions have stagnated, but they are not dead, and United might resume negotiations before the deadline closes.
