Lindelof is at the United training ground today as he undergoes a medical ahead of his move from Benfica.
The 22-year-old Sweden defender will cost the Red Devils around £30million and would be their first signing of the transfer window.
But Wilkins does not believe he will be able to make an immediate impact at Old Trafford and says he will need to be given time to adapt.
