Jose Mourinho isn’t happy (Getty) Jose Mourinho has taken a fresh swipe at Manchester United fans who he thinks are not giving the team enough vocal support.
The Red Devils may boast the largest domestic stadium in England (excluding Tottenham’s temporary home of Wembley) but the 75,000 fans at Old Trafford have not always been loud enough for Mourinho’s liking.
The Special One used his programme notes for Sunday’s match with Everton to have a dig at the quieter Manchester United fans.
‘I do hope that our noisy supporters are back from their holidays for today’s match to give the players the backing they need and deserve,’ he wrote.
‘I want the lads to enjoy a really supportive atmosphere in all our home games in every competition. We haven’t lost at home for over a year, and if we can keep performing well – the players on the pitch, the fans in the stands – then I hope this run can continue for a lot longer.’ A view of Manchester United fans (Getty) It wasn’t the first time Mourinho raised the issue, with the Portuguese tactician questioning his side’s fans after the Premier League meeting with Leicester earlier this season.
