Manchester United’s six unavailable players for the Europa League final will be eligible to receive winner’s medals.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcos Rojo, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young will not play again this season due to injury while Eric Bailly is suspended after his sending off in the semi-final second leg with Celta Vigo.
Third-choice goalkeeper Joel Pereira will also watch on from the stands but Uefa rules state the winning side will receive 40 gold medals to distribute to staff and players, regardless of their availability.
Uefa’s rulebook states: “The winning team is presented with forty gold medals and the runner-up with forty silver medals. Additional medals may not be produced.”
Should any other United squad members succumb to injury then Scott McTominay and Matty Willock – recently added to the Europa League squad – would be in line to make the bench.
